On-Site Support

Concept-to-reality support at your plant after coils and components leave our facility.

Fluxtrol’s on-site support places experienced setup and run-off personnel at the customer’s site once induction coils or other installation components have been designed or produced at Fluxtrol. The team includes in-house metallurgists, material scientists and electromagnetic experts and supports Fluxtrol’s concept-to-reality capability.

Once induction coils or other installation components have been designed or produced in our facility, Fluxtrol can provide on-site support at the customer’s site. With experienced set up and run off personnel, including in house metallurgists, material scientists and electromagnetic experts, Fluxtrol prides itself on its concept-to-reality capabilities.

Where on-site support fits

Fluxtrol’s coil workflows run from application description and simulation to coil engineering, manufacturing and a test that compares results with simulation. On-site support carries that work into the customer’s plant, where the coil meets the real machine, power supply, cooling system and part flow.

What the team brings

  • Setup and run-off experience. Personnel who set up the coil and run the process.
  • Metallurgy. In-house metallurgists who can judge the heat treatment result on the part.
  • Material science. Expertise in the SMC controllers and the coil materials.
  • Electromagnetic expertise. Experts who understand how the coil, controller and power supply interact.

Because the same team designs the coil, builds it and simulates it, questions that arise on site can be traced back to the model and the design.

Supporting a coil and controller installation

Several topics covered elsewhere on this site are the sort of issues a coil encounters at startup and in service:

  • Water and electrical integrity. The ASM Handbook chapter calls for leak checking, flow rate checking against a defined minimum and electrical measurement of inductance or impedance before a coil ships; see coil quality and integrity .
  • Controller attachment and protection. Adhesive or mechanical attachment, coatings and watching for glue cracks that separate the controller from the copper; see assembling and protecting SMCs.
  • Maintenance. Regular cleaning and visual inspection of coil and controller; see maintenance .

What to prepare

To scope support, it helps to have the part and process description, the coil drawings and simulation results, the power supply and cooling system details, and the target results. These are the same inputs used in the coil workflows and let the support team compare site results with the model.

Ties to other R&D services

On-site work pairs with personal training for operators and engineers and with consulting when a process question goes beyond setup. A University of Cambridge researcher valued Fluxtrol’s help in the wider context of implementation, including cooling and power supply design.

Outcomes

The goal is a working process at the customer site, achieved by the people who designed it, as part of Fluxtrol’s concept-to-reality approach.

Frequently asked questions

When is on-site support used?
Once induction coils or other installation components have been designed or produced in the Fluxtrol facility, Fluxtrol can provide on-site support at the customer’s site. It follows design, simulation, manufacturing and, where applicable, laboratory validation.
Who provides the support?
Experienced setup and run-off personnel, supported by in-house metallurgists, material scientists and electromagnetic experts. Fluxtrol describes its on-site capability as part of its concept-to-reality offering.
What should be checked when a coil arrives?
The ASM chapter on inductor fabrication says a coil should be leak checked, flow checked against a defined minimum, and electrically measured before shipping, and flags that coils need regular cleaning and visual inspection in service. These checks are the same ones used for coil integrity at the shop.
Can on-site support include training?
Fluxtrol’s CIT also offers training that covers coil design and manufacturing, magnetic controller installation and process setup and demonstration. Operators can be trained at the Fluxtrol facility, and sources do not describe training at customer sites, so ask when you contact us.
